Since November 21, Alain Chabat has been hosting the Late Show, an American-style talk show, in the second part of the evening on TF1. Viewers can laugh at fake advertisements, discover new and stupid concepts (the “nothing special” envoy played by Jérôme Commandeur) or simply enjoy the hilarious and nostalgic sketches bordering on the cringe, inherited from the era of Dummies. Speaking precisely of the group of French comedians, Alain Chabat had brought together Charlotte Gainsbourg and Dominique Farrugia for a sketch for the show on Wednesday, November 23: a tribute to La Cité de la Peur, the cult film by Dummies, but also the (true or false?) teaser of a sequel entitled Assisted by Fear. During the show, Charlotte Gainsbourg arrives on set and is interviewed by Chabat as if she were playing the role of an actress (do you follow?). She therefore comes to promote The City of Fear 2, where she would play the daughter of commissioner Patrick Bialès, camped by Gérard Darmon in the film. Then, the duo is joined by Dominique Farrugia in the role of Simon Jérémi, alias Benjamin in Red is Dead, who takes the opportunity to release some information on this false sequel, and even unveil a poster of The Helper of Fear. also on KonbiniThis is where we start to wonder if this whole sketch is really just a disguised promo for a real sequel…The sequence ends with a recorded message from Chantal Lauby alias Odile Deray, in which she confirms his return as the project’s screenwriter. As you will have understood, Chabat blew a strong wind of nostalgia on the Late Show set, perhaps in vain. But as long as he continues to make movies, we won’t stop believing in it.
