If, in 2022, world cinema has regained some color, the jostling of releases has almost caused us cinematic indigestion. But faced with this rush of films, the cinematographic quality was fortunately there.
No filmmaker should equal the coronation of Chloé Zhao, who won three of the main awards last year – Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress for Frances McDormand – but some feature films are already big favorites.
The Golden Globes, which open the season of film awards and act as an antechamber to the Oscars, have this year largely crowned The Power of the Dog and West Side Story, which therefore logically pocket several nominations, including twelve for the film by Jane Campion, the record of this edition. Its director thus makes history as the first woman to win two nominations for the Oscar for Best Director, 28 years later. The Piano Lesson.
