Four years after the excellent Le monde est à toi, filmmaker Romain Gavras is back with a third feature film, Athena. The project remained very mysterious until then, since, apart from the fact that it is a Netflix production, we did not know much. A first teaser has just been unveiled, and it does not specifically describe what we can expect from the feature film. This one-minute sequence shot only serves to show the atmosphere of a city on fire, carried by the discovery Sami Slimane and accompanied by a quote from Sophocles: “When fate strikes, no one mortal cannot free himself from misfortune.” Nevertheless, we have the first synopsis of this film co-scripted with Ladj Ly, and which will see Dali Benssalah and Anthony Bajon in front of the camera. We therefore learn: “The tragic death of their younger brother in troubled circumstances will in a few hours tip the life of a sibling into chaos.” Athena is scheduled for next September on Netflix, and is already one of our expectations. the strongest of this second half of 2022.
