Avid DC comics readers may know Alysia Yeoh. This secondary character, introduced in 2011 in the universe of Batgirl, was the roommate and close friend of Barbara Gordon (daughter of James Gordon, the famous commissioner of Gotham City, and who, according to the comics, is the acolyte of Batman, see here Batgirl). Suffice to say that learning that Yeoh will be part of the HBO Max film Batgirl does not seem out of place. But behind the info hides another. Because Yeoh being a transgender character, Warner cast Ivory Aquino, a transgender actress, to play him. A first for the DCEU – even if the small screen had already offered Dreamer, the first transgender superheroine in the Supergirl series, in the guise of Nicole Maines. Aquino therefore joins an already substantial cast, since she will be accompanied by Leslie Grace (Batgirl), JK Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), Michael Keaton (Batman, yes yes), Brendan Fraser (the villainous Firefly, as confirmed in passing by Deadline ), and other second knives. The film, directed by the duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (who have already directed the last Bad Boys), should be released soon directly on the platform.
