It was Daniel Kaluuya, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Judas and the Black Messiah and HER who won the Oscar for Best Original Song for the same film last year, who came present the first Oscar of the evening, that of Best actress in a supporting role. Unsurprisingly, they presented it to Ariana DeBose for the role of Anita in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story. Sixty years later, she took over the role of Rita Moreno present in the room this evening and who also received the Oscar for best supporting role in 1962.
