Munmun Dutta aka Babita Ji, who became popular from house to house with the serial ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, has been in controversy for a long time. On Monday, she reached the Hansi police station in Haryana in connection with the derogatory remarks on Dalit society. The police arrested Her. On January 9 last year, Munmun was accused of making derogatory remarks against Scheduled Castes by releasing a video on YouTube.After this, Rajat Kalsan, a Dalit rights activist from Thana city Hansi, filed a case against Munmun under the SC-ST Act on May 13 for commenting on the Dalit society. Now Munmun appeared before DSP Vinod Shankar as per the order of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
There was a lot of ruckus on this video of Munmun. There was a demand for her arrest. However, after the controversy escalated, Munmun had also apologized. She shared the post on social media and wrote that she was not aware of this word and she uttered it unknowingly. Her intention was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments. Munmun expressed regret over this. However, after apologizing, the matter was settled.
Supreme Court dismissed the petition
Munmun had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to quash the trial. This was rejected by the Supreme Court on 22 September. Munmun’s anticipatory bail plea was rejected on January 28 by the special court set up under the SC-ST Act in Hisar. Then Munmun had taken refuge in the Punjab Haryana High Court for anticipatory bail. On February 4, the High Court had asked Munmun to join the investigation in Hansi.
