Pinocchio is on the rise. After a remake by Matteo Garrone which ended its run directly on Amazon Prime Video and a future “very political” adaptation by Guillermo del Toro for Netflix, the great recycling operation continues. Today, it’s Disney’s turn to unveil the trailer for its in-house live action remake by Robert Zemeckis. Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, written in 1881 and brought to the screen for the first time by the big-eared studio in 1940, the director will find Tom Hanks, with whom he collaborated for Forrest Gump in 1995 but also for Alone in the world in 2000 or Le Pôle express in 2004, and who takes on the role of Gepetto here. In the first trailer for this adaptation, visibly faithful to the original animated film, there are no images of the famous wooden doll. However, we discover the elegant Jiminy Cricket, dubbed in VO by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, familiar with the world of Zemeckis, and the fox Grand Coquin, who both remain anthropomorphic animals. Cynthia Erivo embodies the blue fairy who brings Pinocchio to life. Pinocchio by Robert Zemeckis is expected in September 2022 on the Disney+ streaming platform.
