A masked massacre in a film in the continuity of French auteur cinema, with an incredible flat calm. The few terrifying sequences are terrifying because of the filmmaker’s way of filming what is happening surgically, without using tricks, montages or soundtracks. We are sometimes almost closer to the documentary and that makes the whole thing a thousand times scarier. A real lesson in history and a little slap in the face proving that sometimes we don’t need a lot to mark our retinas.
