This should definitely convince Rian Johnson to make a third whodunit on Detective Benoit Blanc’s investigations. If we are to believe the (not always very understandable) figures from Netflix, Glass Onion, the sequel to Knives Out released on the platform last December, is a huge hit. In the space of 28 days, the basic benchmark for calculating Netflix audiences, the feature film has accumulated more than 273 million hours watched, which allows it to enter the top 5 original films in English. the most popular and watched on the platform and even to take fourth place in this very popular ranking. Thus, Glass Onion is ahead of Netflix films which have also been a hit in recent years. We think of Tyler Rake with Chris Hemsworth and David Harbour, Adam through time worn by Ryan Reynolds and Zoe Saldana, or even The Irishman, Martin Scorsese’s film which closes this top 10. Glass Onion steals the fourth place to The Gray Man, an action film with a four-star cast (Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Chris Evans), and is not very far from Bird Box, the fantastic thriller led by Sandra Bullock. On the other hand, the Rian Johnson’s feature is far outstripped by Netflix’s two most popular films, namely Don’t Look Up: Cosmic Denial and Red Notice, which both surpassed 350 or even 360 million hours watched within 28 days of their release. We do not know much about this sequel, except that Daniel Craig will be back in the role of the detective and that the film should take on a tone and address different themes from the first two. And if you miss the whodunit too much by then, you can always set your sights on Poker Face, Rian Johnson’s first series starring Natasha Lyonne and Adrien Brody as headliners, due January 26 in the United States on the Peacock platform (and we hope soon in France).
