No one can resist the sweet eyes of Ryan Reynolds, let alone his bro Hugh Jackman. To everyone’s surprise, the two actors have just announced in a hilarious video that Wolverine will face Wade Wilson in Deadpool 3, still in the guise of his iconic interpreter. As Hugh Jackman had said goodbye to the character in Logan, one wonders what scenario pirouette they will find to introduce him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while mutants are still almost non-existent there. By the way, Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have confirmed the release of Deadpool 3 for September 6, 2024. The third film on the bloody adventures of Wade Wilson is therefore added to an already busy 2024 schedule for the MCU, where Captain America: New World Order (May 3), Thunderbolts (July 26), and Fantastic Four (November 6), which will open Phase VI. Barring a surprise with the reboot of Blade carried by Mahershala Ali and expected in November 2023, Deadpool 3 should be the first Rated R movie of the MCU, in the vein of the first two. We also learn that Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Free Guy) will be in charge of the production, while screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will be back to write this third opus. As a reminder, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman had already shared the appear together in the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with a very cheap version of Deadpool. If Wade Wilson settled his account in person in the post-credits scenes of Deadpool 2, we hope for a dantesque confrontation between him and the mutant with adamantium claws. In the meantime, the next MCU film to be released will be Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, on November 9, even if its theatrical release is threatened by a financial (and a bit of ego) war between Disney and the French media timeline.
