The competition was really tough. Between the ferocious feminist western by Jane Campion, the impressive new version of West Side Story by Steven Spielberg, the fable full of life by Paul Thomas Anderson, the exemplary blockbuster by Denis Villeneuve or the ultra-Oscar-winning biopic The Williams Method, all the world could be favorite. At the end of a rather special ceremony, with surprises (like the slap of Will Smith) and more disappointing moments (the sacrificed prizes and the public prizes), Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli were on stage to award the most anticipated prize, and it was CODA that walked away with the Oscar for best film.
