Last February, James Gunn and Peter Safran, the two new bosses of the DC Extended Universe, announced their plan for the overhaul of this extended universe, in cinema and on the small screen. We learned in particular about the development of a new Superman film, which will not be the Arlesian Man of Steel 2 and will have to do without Henry Cavill in the title role. The Man of Steel feature, slated for July 11, 2025, will ultimately be written and directed by James Gunn himself and will be titled Superman: Legacy. Both men are keen to cast a younger actor for the new film. dedicated to Clark Kent, which will not be an origin story but will explore “the search for balance between the heritage of Krypton and the human part of Superman”, according to Peter Safran. Superman: Legacy will be one of the pillars of this new extended universe, along with The Brave and the Bold, a film about Batman and Robin that has nothing to do with the productions of Matt Reeves, where Robert Pattinson plays the Knight noir. The first phase of this new DCEU is called Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, and James Gunn and Peter Safran have not yet announced all the titles of this first chapter. In particular, there will be a Supergirl film, a Green Lantern series, the sequel to Todd Phillips’ Joker or even a feature dedicated to Swamp Thing. See also on Konbini
