Take a trio of stars, consisting of Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington. You say to yourself that with these three names, you could carry a film without concern. And you would be right. But, for David O. Russell, whose appetite hasn’t stopped growing since Happiness Therapy (we remember the cast of his next film, American Hustle), he now always needs more. For his new feature film, Amsterdam, the director decided to bring in more renowned actors and actresses alongside the three previously mentioned, namely Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Taylor Swift, Rami Malek, Matthias Schoenaerts (!) and Robert de Niro. XXL, we didn’t lie to you, as the trailer proves. Amsterdam is a thriller set in the 1930s, in which a nurse (Margot Robbie), a doctor (Christian Bale) and a lawyer (John David Washington) find themselves accused of murder. A plot where a whole panoply of characters will come to mingle, therefore. We don’t know much more, apart from this rather enticing first trailer. Amsterdam will be released in theaters on November 2.
