The wizarding world is once again in mourning. While Robbie Coltrane, the unforgettable interpreter of Hagrid in the Harry Potter saga, died last October at the age of 78, we learned today of the death of actor Leslie Phillips who lent his voice to the Magic sorting hat. We heard it in the first opus of the saga but also The Chamber of Secrets and in The Deathly hallows – part 2.During his long career of more than 80 years, Leslie Phillips appeared in more than 200 films and series, including the Carry On franchise, a series of cult British comedy films, but also Out of Africa by Sydney Pollack, Empire of the Sun by Steven Spielberg or Lara Croft: Tomb Raider by Simon West. His wife announced to the British tabloid The Sun that the British actor had been battling “illness” for many years.
