Disney continues its big recycling operation. Each new week, its announcement of a live action remake and after The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Aladdin and soon Hercules, Robin Hood or Lilo and Stitch, it’s the turn of the Aristocats to come and extend the list, already too long. If the shadow of the Cats industrial disaster nevertheless hangs over the project, the firm with the big ears will indeed offer a remake of the Parisian adventures of Duchess, Marie, Toulouse and Berlioz, released in 1970, with real cats, as she did with real dogs for Lady and the Tramp, released on Disney+ in 2019. According to Deadline, which announced the project, the film will therefore be shot in live action and aesthetically, it should look like Lady and the Tramp. It is not yet known if the cats will be luckier than the dogs and if their new adventures will be entitled to a cinema release or if they will land directly on Disney+. This remake will be written by Keith Bunun, the screenwriter of Pixar’s Onward. and Will Gluck, who recently helmed Peter Rabbit 2. No director is currently attached to the project.
