Yes, the title of this article may surprise you. And yet, the scene, which has just resurfaced on the Internet, did exist. A short film published in 2003 and directed by Michel Gondry does indeed depict a Jim Carrey, standing on a car, singing Elvis, and more precisely the sound “Pecan Pie”. Moreover, the pitch is simple: “A man in his pajamas rolls on the edge of his bed, singing ‘Pecan Pie’ by Elvis Presley. He stops at a gas station.” When he arrives at the gas station, Jim Carrey comes face to face with two well-known gas station attendants: Éric Judor and Ramzy Bedia, who tamper with his sleeping car with shaken cushions and sheets. The filming of this short film would have taken place during a break from the filming of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. If you want to see the short film, it’s here.
