It’s a textbook case: thirteen years after a first film, which did not necessarily call for a sequel, Avatar 2 is looming. We were the first skeptics at the announcement of four Avatar feature films, not that we doubt James Cameron’s qualities as a filmmaker, but rather their reception. But here it is, the first teaser for Avatar: The Way water, second part of the saga, fell, and it’s a slap. Visual, especially, but all the same. We know that James Cameron took the time to work on these new films, and it shows. The CGI is magnificent, the universe always more beautiful, and, for those who have seen it in 3D, technically impressive. Basically, we still follow, ten years after their first adventure, Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri ( Zoe Saldana), who have made their living and now have four children. A peaceful family cocoon, close to nature, disturbed by the return of the Resources Development Administration to Pandora. This part will be centered on the aquatic part of the planet. Afterwards, let’s not feign surprise for too long: if there is one filmmaker who has always succeeded in Hollywood sequels, it’s Cameron – the gentleman to whom the we need Aliens or Terminator 2, just that. Avatar: The Way of Water will be released on December 14, 2022.
