You may have seen the information pass: an astonishing teaser has been released, supposedly linked to Arthur & the Minimoys. The saga, created by Luc Besson more than 15 years ago now, would be back. Strange idea you will tell me, and you would not be wrong. Especially since it is, technically, true. There is indeed a new movie related to the franchise. But we’re not talking about a fourth installment strictly speaking. We’re not really talking about a fantastic story in a marvelous world with funny “endearing” creatures, but a kind of spin-off in real horror movie mode. Written and produced by Luc Besson, father of the original trilogy. An attempt in any case, in imitation found footage – at least, it costs a little less. We follow Alex, a fan of the saga since always. For her birthday, her friends decide to surprise her and take her to visit the house where the film was shot, now abandoned. But it is without suspecting that it is a poisoned gift… The little trip between friends quickly turns into a nightmare. Since, as we can see in the first teaser that has just been released, the band of friends find themselves trapped by a tribe of natives (?), from the world of Minimoys or others, we don’t really know. There are a few things to talk about: already, the old-fashioned found footage, with camera quality from 2004, for a film in 2022, doesn’t really make sense. Today, we have Steven Soderberghs capable of shooting movies entirely on the iPhone in a more than credible way, and we are supposed to believe that in the age of smartphones, teenagers are using old-fashioned cameras? Not to mention the filter added to the image is more than visible and laughable. In short, very unbelievable. Some even call for “found foutage (de gueule)” — it’s not from us… But of all this teaser, while we see supposedly scary creatures and characters, the least credible is probably teenagers of 2022 are ultra fans of this franchise forgotten by ordinary mortals. Incomprehensible. Arthur curse will be in theaters from next June 29, and the trailer will be released on May 13. Ah yes, because it was a trailer teaser… Decidedly, nothing is right.
